Due to the heavy rainfalls which have not ended yet, the Kupa Dyke could not handle the water level as the water rised by over 1 meter. The dyke has unfortuantly collapsed causing several homes to be surrounded by the ice cold water.
The K.R.S ( Koefdam Rescue Services) and the coastguard have claimed no one died during the floods although they are still going through all the houses in the search for any survivors.
So far it is the worst flood ever in the history of Koefdam causing an estimated 30,000 Koefna worth of damage. The Rijkwaterstaat has said that they will rebuild and improve all water barriers to prevent any future devastation.
